Cannon FlowersCannon enjoyed 23 years with a global Fortune 500 Company serving in a leadership capacity of domestic and international corporate finance. He then moved to the non-profit sector where he served the next 10 years in the capacities of Chief Operating Officer, then Chief Executive Officer. Simultaneously while leading in the non-profit sector, Cannon was also a founding partner in a social enterprise venture. This was a coffee shop in Dallas, TX, addressing employment barriers for people attempting to rebuild their lives and re-enter the workplace for those with non-violent criminal past, plus applying a “living wage” (as opposed to minimum wage), and then applying profits from the venture back into the non-profit sector in Dallas.
Cannon is widely known for his leadership practice of “management by fact” through establishing performance metrics in each area of the organization’s board and staff to drive constant performance improvement. These improvements lead to greater board and staff contributions and personal satisfaction, plus, provides credible operating data used in funding development to support the program successes of the organization. He applies a "for-profit" business model to the non-profit, care based organization (CBO) organizations, with management through performance metrics. Cannon received his certification in “Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations” at Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government. Cannon combines his years of experience in the corporate, non-profit, and social enterprise areas to put in place practical process applications that drive performance and constant improvement. With his broad interest and driving curiosity in the “care based organization” sector he is able to quickly understand an organization’s mission and tap into the passion for that mission with the organization’s board, staff, and volunteers. This creates a true enterprise-wide collaboration to create real process improvements to an organization.
