Community Service
Our team is involved in various ways of serving the community.
FPA DFW Pro Bono Committee
The Dallas Fort Worth Financial Planning Association is dedicated to improving our community by tapping into their experience and knowledge to provide financial guidance and promote financial literacy to individuals and families in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. Our mission is to offer free financial planning services, advice and knowledge to targeted populations through non-profit organizations and agencies.
Services we provide include one-on-one financial counseling and planning, seminars and workshops. Topics include budgeting, financial literacy, insurance, savings, and debt management. Ms. Anderson serves through this committee as a volunteer financial planner.
Stephen Ministry
We all experience challenges in life, times when we could benefit from the support of a caring Christian friend. Stephen Ministers are ready to provide emotional and spiritual care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Equipped through an extensive 8-month training course, Stephen Ministers are lay persons who are gifted and called to caregiving; the care they offer is confidential, on-going, one-to-one, and free. Ms. Anderson serves as a volunteer care giver.
Alliance of Technology and Women
ATW is a dynamic non-profit organization that supports women and men who share the common interests of empowering women in technology, increasing the number of women in executive roles and encouraging women and girls to enter technology fields. Ms. Anderson served this organization in the role of volunteer and mentor.
Texas Society of CPA’s
The Dallas CPA Society, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (Dallas Chapter) is a not-for-profit professional association serving approximately 6,700 CPA members in Dallas and the surrounding 13 counties. It is the second largest chapter of the Texas Society, Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA), the statewide professional association with over 27,000 members and 20 chapters around the state. A Board of Directors, elected from among the membership, is charged with the responsibility of governing the Chapter. She has served for the last 2 years as a member of the Education Conference Planning Committee.
Café Momentum
Café Momentum is a nonprofit restaurant concept conceived by Parigi co-owners Chad Houser and Janice Provost that will serve as a culinary training facility for the disadvantaged. Our primary focus is the Dallas County Youth Village, a juvenile residential detention facility for nonviolent adjudicated boys ages 13-17. Mr. Flowers serves this organization in the role of Board Chair and Chair of Development Committee.
Letot Center Capital Foundation Board
This co-educational, short-term program established in 1979 through a joint public-private effort by the Dallas County Juvenile Department, Dallas Independent School District and Junior League of Dallas, today serves as the central service delivery system for runaway youth and their families in Dallas County. Operations moved to the current facility in 1990 after the Letot Capital Foundation built the 40,000 square foot building using private sector donations. The building has a shelter capacity for 40 youth referred by law enforcement for runaway, truancy and class C misdemeanors. Programming aims to reunite runaways with their families whenever possible. Mr. Flowers serves this organization in the role of Board Member.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Military Mentors Program
The Children with a parent in the military, including a deployed parent, face unique challenges that may include separation and loss in addition to the stresses of military life. To help provide the additional support these children need, Big Brothers Big Sisters has established a program called the Military Mentoring Program. It joins children of parents in the military with Bigs who are in the military, ROTC or military school. This program has recently been given significant support through a partnership with the T. Boone Pickens Foundation as well as The Jack in the Box Foundation. In addition, Big Brothers Big Sisters has established a Military Community Advisory Council to advise our organization on policy and practices related to mentoring children in the military community. Ms. Anderson serves as a big sister.
